In "Birds of Forest, Yard, & Thicket" John Eastman reports that in addition to cuckoos, orioles are also attracted to E. tent caterpillars.  "Numerous egg masses of this moth, seen on twigs in the fall, may forecast next year's local abundance of orioles and cuckoos."
