While warblering our way around the North slope of Brigham Hill in Essex last evening, Dan Renaud and I were surprised to hear a rather vocal CERULEAN WARBLER.
After a bit of searching, we found the bird (a male) on an open snag amidst an otherwise full canopy of maples. We enjoyed extended looks at it's neck ring, side-streaks, wing bars, and - in spite of bad lighting - it's cerulean backside.
More blackpolls this am as well!
good birding.
