Whhile we were eating lunch today, we heard a loud thunk against the picture window in the living room. We looked out and watched a bird die - broken neck. It was about 10" long, medium gray over most of its body with a pale gray breast, some barring under the tail, and a long slightly downcurved bill.
We have never seen a black-billed cuckoo before. It was life bird number 531, Vermont bird number 193.
