I am always impressed by the fact that experienced birders like Maeve Kim
invariably see more birds than I do scoping out the same territory-in this case
Dead Creek. It is truly humbling and a goal for the initiate to aspire  to.
In the case of the great egrets, though, which are really a sight to behold,  I
counted 12 in the shallow water south of the Brilyea causeway and  there may
well be more. All in addition to Maeve's comprehensive list  (naturally I
missed the sora completely).
