1. Healing Legacies Art Show ----------------------------
The Tobacco Coalition with the Center for Health and Wellbeing will host the
"Healing Legacies Art Show", during Homecoming & Family Weekend, October 2nd and
3rd in the John Dewey Lounge of the Old Mill. This exhibit is a multi-media
exhibit featuring the work of 15 women and one man who have used artistic
expression as a means of healing from breast cancer.

The event will be open throughout the weekend from 11:00-7:30 on Saturday and
11:00-4:00 on Sunday. A slide presentation for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
and tobacco awareness will be presented at 5:30-7:00 on Saturday evening
followed by a reception with food and beverage.

The Mission of "Healing Legacies" is to increase breast cancer education and
social awareness by providing women facing breast cancer with the opportunity to
exhibit their work, and by promoting the transformative quality of art &
writing to the healing process.

For more information about "Healing Legacies" go to:

2. Presidential Candidate Ralph Nader ----------------------------
Independent Presidential Candidate, Ralph Nader, will be addressing
students on October 5 at 8pm in the Ira Allen Chapel. He will be speaking
about his candidacy for President of the United States as an Independent, not
as a Reform Party candidate as previously stated. Sorry for the mistake in the
previous all-student e-mail.

Bring your student ID
There is a SUGGESTED donation of $5 at the door
There is a $10 suggested donation for non-UVM students

3. Supreme Court Justice Scalia ----------------------------
The Honorable Justice Antonin Scalia will discuss “Constitutional
Interpretation” Friday, Oct. 8, at 4:30 p.m. in Ira Allen Chapel on the
University of Vermont campus. Scalia, an associate justice, is considered the
Court's leading proponent of originalism—the view that the meaning of a written
constitution is, or should be, consistent with the meaning as it was originally
understood by those who drafted and/or ratified the Constitution.

Tickets are required to attend the free lecture. Students, staff, and
faculty may receive one ticket per UVM ID beginning Friday, Oct. 1, between 9
a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Patrick Gymnasium ticket office and from 9 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. at the Student Government Association in room B156, Billings. Tickets will
not be available at the door. Security checks will be conducted prior to
admission to the Chapel, and all bags may be subject to search. No backpacks,
cameras, audio or video recording devices of any kind will be permitted inside.

sing, dance, read poetry, and have a good time. All are welcome!!

5. Campus Wide Committees ----------------------------
There are many committees around campus that need student representation.
The committees vary in meeting times and dates. Becoming part of a committee
is a great opportunity for students to voice their opinions and make a
difference in the campus community. They make decisions that affect our
community, so get involved.

For more information or an application to be appointed to a committee
contact Emily Berliet, the SGA Vice President, in Billings B-156, or call

Have an awesome Homecoming weekend,
