Jamie Koehnlein (Honeoye, N.Y.) and David Sullivan (Hartford, Conn.) Named
Vermont Student-Athletes of the Week
BURLINGTON, Vt. - Women's soccer standout Jamie Koehnlein (Honeoye, N.Y.) and
men's soccer goalie David Sullivan (Hartford, Conn.) are the Student-Athletes
of the Week for the week of August 30th to Sept. 5th.
Koehnlein was named tournament Most Valuable Player as the Catamount women's
soccer team won the title in Wyoming, while Sullivan didn't allow a goal as the
men won the Nike Fall Classic in New Hampshire.
Koehnlein led the Cats to their first regular-season tournament title on the
road in the history of the program. A junior midfielder, she earned MVP honors
at the Brown and Gold Shootout in Laramie, Wyoming. She scored in Vermont's 2-0
shutout win over Northern Colorado and anchored the midfield for head coach
Kerry Dziczkaniec. Vermont also tied Wyoming, 1-1, in the second game of the
tournament. Koehnlein ranks third on the team in scoring with three points.
Vermont, unbeaten in the last three games, returns to action Saturday when it
hosts Siena at 1:00pm at Centennial Field.
Sullivan backboned the defense (0 GA in two games) as the men's soccer team won
the Nike Fall Classic title at Durham, N.H. for the first time in eight tries.
He was named to the All-Tournament team after posting two double-overtime
Sullivan made five stops in season-opening 1-0 (2 ot) win over Holy Cross and
then three saves in 0-0 (2 ot) tie with Saint Mary's. A four-year starter in
the crease, he now has 15 career shutouts good for a tie for third all-time at
