Final mist-netting session of 2004 on Mt. Mansfield yielded the following
this morning. After a spectacular sunrise, we were in the clouds from 7:00
am on, which depressed bird activity.

Red-eyed Vireo -- 1
Bicknell's Thrush -- 4 immatures (7-8 heard calling at dawn, 1 sang 3x)
Swainson's Thrush -- 4
Black-thr Blue Warbler -- 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler -- 8
Black-thr Green Warbler -- 1
Blackpoll Warbler --2
Ovenbird -- 1
White-thr Sparrow -- 1

The morning's highlight had to be 2 Boreal Chickadees seen at close range
several times over the course of an hour near the junction of Long Trail N
and the access road. Maybe this will be an "irruption" year for the species...

Chris
