SATURDAY AM: mixed flock of warblers foraging the maples in my yard on Brigham Hill in Essex. As I was birding with my 14 month old daughter Lucy, I ended up missing what seemed like a lot of birds (doh!), though here's what I did see:
1 CMN YELLOWTHROAT
At least 3 BLACK-THROATED GREENS
SUNDAY: amidst what felt like a southwest wind, I had a GREAT EGRET, OSPREY and adult BALD EAGLE all cruise over/by the house. The latter two clearly moving South.
MONDAY: on MT Mansfield, amidst a stiff south wind, My brother Dan and I watched an adult PEREGRINE FALCON harrassing a southbound Osprey above the lower flanks of Sunset Ridge. My wife watched a COOPER'S HAWK fly by our house that day and Dan watched a N. HARRIER hunting along the fields off Tower Rd in Essex.
Next cold front that comes through with a N. wind following it will undoubtedly trigger some hawk movement.
