1. Voter Information ----------------------------
SGA will pick students up in vans on Election Day and take students to
designated polling locations. The van pick-up area will be in front of Royal
Tyler Theater on University Place. The vans will run from 8am to 8pm.
SGA is registering students to vote on Friday between 11am and 2pm. Ben
and Jerry’s will be there to Rock the Vote with Student Government.

Voter Registration Information:
All States have different deadlines for voter registration. If you want to
register in your home state, then please check your home state's web site for
information & deadlines. You are certainly welcome to register in Vermont.
Deadlines for a few area states:
VT - October 25, Maine & Connecticut - October 19, N.H. - October 23
States that have closed registration:
Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York,

Every state has a different date and process for absentee voting. If you choose
to vote absentee, then please make arrangements with your individual state. You

2. Vermont Governor’s Debate ----------------------------
Student Government and News Channel 5 will be sponsoring the Vermont
Governor’s Debate in Billings on October 19. The debate is fashioned in a town
hall style, so students will be able to watch via a live feed in Marsh Lounge,
Billings. Doors open at 7:15 and close at 7:50. The debate will be aired live
on New Channel 5 and News Channel 31 from 8 to 9pm. The candidates are
incumbent Governor, Jim Douglas (Republican) and current Burlington Mayor,
Peter Clavelle (Democrat).
3. Jack McMullen to speak ----------------------------
Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, Jack McMullen will take questions
from students on October 20 at 7pm. He will be in the Grace Coolidge Room on
the 5th floor of the Waterman Building.
4. College Republican Event ----------------------------
Tuesday 8pm (come on over after the meeting) in John Dewy Lounge – Grover
Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform www.atr.org, is speaking on tax
5. Peter Camejo to speak ----------------------------
Ralph Nader's Vice Presidential candidate, Peter Miguel Camejo, will be
speaking at the University of Vermont, on Wednesday, October 20th at
7pm in Lafayette Building, Room 207. Lafayette is right behind Old Mill
on University Place across from the Campus Green.
Camejo ran as the Green Party candidate in the recent recall election
for Governor of California in which he was widely recognized to have
won the televised public debates.
He and Ralph Nader are proposing the following platform: End the
Occupation of Iraq and Bring the Troops Home Now; Fund Money for
Schools Not Jails; Junk the Patriot Act; End Corporate Welfare;
Guarantee National Healthcare for All; Enact Gay Marriage Now.

6. Yonder Mountain String Band ----------------------------
SA Concerts Presents Yonder Mountain String Band with special guest Tim
O'Brien October 19th in Ira Allen Chapel. Doors 6:30, Music 7:30. Tickets are
$18 for students and $23 for non students and are available at the UVM ticket
office upstairs in Patrick Gym, Pure Pop, and online through uvmathletics.com.

7. The Toys Take Over Christmas ----------------------------
Tickets go on sale for the holiday favorite “The Toys Take Over Christmas”
by Patricia Clapp on Wednesday, October 13th.
In its 14th season at the Royall Tyler, the UVM Department of theatre once
again brings to life the story of the evil Toymaker, the loveable toys and of
course the jolly old elf himself. Children of all ages get to meet the
characters and Santa following the performances.
Tickets are $10 for Adults and $5 for children under 12. Performances are
December 4th & 5th at 10am, 2pm and 6pm. “The Toys Takes Over Christmas” has
been enjoyed by generations and the performances sell out quickly. To order

Box Office is open for phone and walk up sales from 12pm - 5pm Monday -Friday.
The UVM Theatre is also presenting as part of it's 2004-2005 “Season
Rumors” by Neil Simon, running November 10-21st and “A Midsummer
Night's Dream” by William Shakespeare running March 2nd -13th. Tickets
