Dear UVM Students,

1.  Howard Dean and Burlington Mayor Peter Clavelle to speak - TODAY
2.  U.S. Senate Candidate, Jack McMullen, takes students questions
3.  Ask the Vermont governor candidates your questions, see below
4.  Students needed for campus wide committees - Your voice will be heard!

1.  Howard Dean and Peter Clavelle   ----------------------------
     Former Vermont Governor and Democratic Presidential candidate Howard Dean
and former Vermont Governor Phil Hoff, will hold a rally outside of the
Bailey/Howe Library at noon on today.  Burlington Mayor, Peter Clavelle,
candidate for Vermont Governor
will also be on hand.  They will be talking about the impact the Iraq War has
had on Vermont as well as the Vermont governorís race.

Event time:  Noon, TODAY, in front of the Bailey/Howe Library

2.  Jack McMullen to speak   ----------------------------
     Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, Jack McMullen will take questions
from students on October 20 at 7pm.  He will be in the Grace Coolidge Room on
the 5th floor of the Waterman Building.

Event time:  7pm, October 20, Grace Coolidge Room 501, Waterman

3.  Vermont Governorís Debate   ----------------------------
     Student Government and News Channel 5 will be sponsoring the Vermont
Governorís Debate in Billings on October 19.  The debate is fashioned in a town
hall style, so students will be able to watch via a live feed in Marsh Lounge,
Billings.  Doors open at 7:15 and close at 7:50.  The debate will be aired live
on New Channel 5 and News Channel 31 from 8 to 9pm.  The candidates are
incumbent Governor, Jim Douglas (Republican) and current Burlington Mayor,
Peter Clavelle (Democrat).

If you want to ask the candidates a question please e-mail Bryant Jones with
your question by 5pm today (Monday, October 18).

4.  Student Needed for Campus Wide Committees   ----------------------------
     There are many committees around campus that need student representation.
The committees vary in meeting times and dates.  Becoming part of a committee
is a great opportunity for students to voice their opinions and make a
difference in the campus community.  They make decisions that affect our
community, so get involved.

     For more information or an application to be appointed to a committee
contact Emily Berliet, the SGA Vice President, in Billings B-156, or call
656-2053.
