Mike K and I are helping some clients get a set of windows XP notebook
computers working on the wireless network. It's been a "fun" adventure,
made successful by the cybercafe where most of the experts eventually
pass through ...
The apparent trick(s) are almost a catch 22 ...
a. antivirus has to be 9 to install vpn firewall exceptions
b. vnp has to be current to uninstall itself and it's certificates
certificates so av can poke the holes
Here's what works for the older machines ...
1. uninstall the current vpn
2. install a new one
still doesn't work (and is confusing because the installer is named
"UVM VPN Client", not "UVM VPN Installer")
3. uninstall the new vpn. delete the certificates
this time, it asked about the certificates
4. download and install symantec 9
this will poke holes in the SP2 firewall
5. reinstall the vpn
