I know we've visited and revisited this topic several times over the last
few years, but I thought I'd take another whack at it.  Amongst my circle
of NY area skiing friends, there is an unusually high level of agreement
that the fastest way to our house 15 min south of the Sugarbush access
road is via I-91.  There are several ways to get from 91 to the house, but
none save more than 4-5 minutes vs. the other, regardless of conditions.
That said, intuitively, it just doesn't make sense that this route would
be quicker than heading up via the highways and byways of New York state.
Whereas the former requires you to head East before arriving at 91, the
latter method is simply a straight shot due North.  Yet, every time I've
tried to go via the western route (usually beginning on the Taconic), it
takes me as long, if not a little longer than via 91.  Does anyone have
some insights into the best way to get from 87 or the Taconic to route 100
South of Granville Gulf?  Some have suggested Taconic>22>7>9, but that
much 2-lane road driving doesn't excite me, especially in winter.  Surely
the assmebled knowledge of this list can come up with a bulletproof
alternative given the number of times and routes we've collectively driven
up to the snowy bounty that is northern Vermont.
