Interesting comment..I can remember helping with music on one of the ski films that Plake and Hattrup starred in and there is a scene where they are talking about the preparations that they make before jumping a cliff or skiing a very extreme line and the training that they also do. Hattrup very pointedly says something along the lines of "I couldn't just slap on a pair of DH boards and compete because I don't have that experience or training for that". He had obvious respect for what those guys do. That's the difference between the real deal and the res who yap.

The free skiing community is made up of a lot of free spirits, drop outs and rejects from the US skiing program. So I'm sure Tanner will get set straight by them as well.

Ha!

I figured something like this was coming for a few years, especially
after the recent spate of ski movies and magazines glorifying the
"rollerblades on skis" crowd - giving them a heightened sense of self
importance.

I love this! Not only is Daron Rahlves one of the very best skiers in
the world, he shows he's a smart one.

He doesn't offer to pay for Tanner's medical bills!

"'He says "man" so many times in his interview, he should learn to be
a man and respect those guys that have earned something. We get paid
well because we're obviously doing something for the sport. I pose a
challenge to Tanner. I said 'I'll hook you up with some downhill
boards and you come up to Val Gardena or Kitzbuhel. And just make it
to the bottom. That's all I ask.' I gave him the dates. December 15-18
and January 21-23…"
