The state of blogging

The latest Pew Internet Survey [1] indicates that Americans are taking
to blogs.
Among the findings: blog readership jumped 58 percent last year and 27
percent of adult U.S. Internet users -- or 32 million people -- now use
them. And 7 percent have created blogs -- that's more than 8 million
people.
According to Pew, bloggers are more likely to be male, under 30,
well-educated, relatively well off financially and have broadband at
home (a whopping 70 percent!). On the other hand, new blog readers are
somewhat more "mainstream," with greater-than-average audience growth
among women, minorities, 30-to-49ers and dialup users.
On the flip side, 62 percent of Internet users still don't know what
blogs are.
