From the Town of Richford
1) This past year the town appropriated $36,600 to our local library which
is not a dept. of the Town. It is however, located in a town owned
building. The town does not charge rent or collect taxes on this building.
The town pays for the insurance on the buildings as well as grounds
maintenance, snow removal, water and sewer. Library pays for the other
overhead expenses. They have use of the entire building.
2) We have a population of about 2,300

Subject: Public library spending
> Good afternoon,
> The Town of Barre is looking for information on what other communities in
Vermont are spending annually on their public libraries. If you could please
take a moment to answer the two questions listed below, it would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.
> 1. How much money does your municipality give to the local library? Please
include the amounts for any form in which financial support is offered (i.e.
debt service, tax apportionment, etc.).
> 2. What is the 2000 U.S. Census population estimate for your community?
