This should be a very productive event. This afternoon at the access I
observed a large flock of goldeneyes (100+), a dozen or so bufflehead, a like
number of common mergansers, a few black ducks, and the usual resident mallards.
Overseeing all of this was an immature red-tailed hawk. Across the road a
short way down the path flanking the Nature Conservancy land, I encountered,
amazingly, a great blue heron in flight.
