Last Friday, a Red-bellied Woodpecker visited our sunflower feeder on
Ferry Rd. in Charlotte. My mother-in-law said she has seen one at the
feeder early last month.
Sunday, a large Red-tailed Hawk perched for a few minutes atop an old
telephone pole we use at one end of our washing line. It was within easy
striking distance of the very busy birdfeeders, yet the birds at the
feeder were completely undisturbed by the hawk's presence and the hawk was
paying them no attention whatsoever. After about 2 minutes, the hawk flew
off.
