I do not ordinarily report "feeder birds" to the list, but this is an
exception-a magnificent pileated woodpecker stopped briefly in the woods bordering
the St. John Vianney cemetary in South Burlington this morning. I have seen a
number of downy and hairy woodpeckers at my feeder this winter, but the
appearances of pileated woodpeckers are infrequent in my neck of the woods (so to
speak).
