This bird was hanging out on the rock outcroppings in the water opposite
the Blodgett Stove Admin. Bldgs. yesterday afternoon with other gulls,
including a first year Herring Gull and some first year Ring-Billed
Gulls for comparison. Numerous field marks were characteristic of this
species observed for around a half hour by me and another birder. I did
ask permission of a staff member to enter the parking lot area on foot
and was told that if anyone did not want birders there, they would tell
us, but I would ask just the same, as this is posted as private
property. It might be possible to scope in close enough from the end of
the bike path on the other side. I was with a physically disabled
person, so we needed to keep walking to a minimum. Perhaps other birders
out there who frequent this area known as Blodgett Beach know what the
drill is on the privacy aspect of the area. I should let folks know
that I will not be back at this e-mail again, possibly, till the 14th.
Good luck and good birding.
