As the semester is almost half over, we are in need of examining the status of
our club and making some decisions about its future. Right now our club is at
a breaking point...it can either crash and burn or propel forward with great
force. The decision essentially lies with you all. Alvin and I will be gone
next year and that leaves Kirsten as the only experienced officer. We will need
new leadership. Since I have not been able to go to the Thursday class, I can
not help but feel detached from our club; however, after discussing the
situation with Sensei, I got the message that the club is lacking in energy.
Sensei is extremely passionate about aikido and his dojo is the child of this
passion; his time is valuable and we have been very fortunate to have received
such attention from him. Yet, if our energy is not meeting his, a harmonious
relationship cannot be sustained.
Therefore, we have to decide which direction to take this club. If we want
to continue having weekly classes given by Sensei, we will need to assert
ourselves...this will involve firstly more of an effort put into the club by
the current members and a recruitment of additional enthused aikidokai. As
cliche as it sounds, we have done it before and we can do it again.
I know that the option of attending the club class depends on your schedule, I
am not accusing anyone personally of not being active enough; I am simply trying
to tell the reality of the situation. There is not only one option; we could
certainly talk about others and I encourage all whom find this email to pertain
to you to please write back with your opinion. [log in to unmask]
