BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont took a two-point lead into the second day of the
Williams Winter Carnival and stretched it out a five point overall win over
Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon which was held at Jiminy Peak and Prospect
Mountain.

The women’s slalom cleaned up 111.0 points on Sunday, while the men’s classical
sprint relay team also came up huge for the Catamounts, who improve to 4-1 with
the win. Vermont, who won with a total of 704.5 points, beat out Dartmouth in
second and Middlebury (621.0) who finished third.

Vermont took four of the top six slots in the women’s slalom, led by Jamie
Kingsbury (Waitsfield, Vt.), who placed second. Teammates Jilyne McDonald
(Bellevue, Wash.) and Ashley Spina (Guildhall, Vt.) were right behind
Kingsbury, taking third and fourth overall, while Amy Cochran (Keene, N.H.)
came in sixth.

In the men’s slalom, freshman Greg Hardy ( Stratton, Vt.) was the top Vermont
finisher, placing fifth, while Zac Brown (Sun Valley, Idaho) was eighth.

The men’s classical sprint relay team made up of brother’s Ethan and Ryan Foster
(Weston, Vt.) and Lowell Bailey (Lake Placid, N.Y.) completed the course in
28:00, with their next closest competitor :32.3 seconds behind. The Catamounts
also picked up a third place finish in the same event, by the team of Anders
Osthus (Duluth, Minn.), D.J. Wassick (Bennington, Vt.) and Jordi St. John
(South Londonderry, Vt.).

Carina Hamel (Southampton, Mass.), Anja Jokela (Shelburne, Vt.) and Kate
Crawford (Hawley, Mass.) paced the women’s classical spring relay with a second
place finish.

Vermont will look to keep the momentum going heading into the EISA Championships
at Middlebury next weekend and the Catamounts host the NCAA’s on March 9-12 at
Stowe Mountain Resort and Trapp Family Lodge.
