At Michelle Weissman's request, I'm passing this message along about a
high school level programming contest to be held at Champlain College
--Steve Barner, So. Burlington HS
I am the President of the Software Engineering Club/IEEE Computer
Society Chapter at Champlain College and would like to announce that the
will be sponsoring a Programming Competition for local high school
students scheduled for April 9th. We plan to set up the competition
modeled after the format of topcoder.com as a bunch of programming
problems of varying difficulty that are worth a different number of
points. Teams of one or two students will then choose which problems to
do based on their skills. We will likely use Visual Studio .NET so that
students can program in C# or VB.NET, their choice. Champlain Software
Engineering students will be available to high schoolers during the
competition to answer questions and coach teams.
For more information about the competition, and to register, please see
our contest website at:
Please distribute word about this contest to your students and encourage
them to participate. Winning involves cash prizes, and we would like as
many teams as possible to participate. We will hold an orientation
session two weeks before the competition for students who would like
some help with programming.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
