Yesterday around 10 AM, an immature Golden Eagle graced the sky over
Victory Bog. It came out a dead tree as I skied down a trail and
circled over me several times, gaining altitude, then took off ENE.
Victory Bog was alive with Red Breasted Nuthatch, Black-capped
Chickadees, an occasional Purple Finch, but little else. Gray Jays
everywhere but only males appearing. Females are on the nest for the
most part. One pair of birds did show up. I presume they are still
nestbuilding or egg laying.
