A large flock of at least two hundred Bohemian Waxwings was on Hubbard
Street in Montpelier yesterday afternoon. They were feeding on two handsome
ornamental cherries in front of a house. Fruit the perfect size for waxwings
to swallow whole. One or two Cedars among them.
I sat in my car twenty feet acroos the street and bathed in the sight, sound
and wonderfully energy. They were literally dripping off the eaves of the
adjoining house and festooning the tree, the small branches waving as they
moved about. Not a plague of locusts; a blessing of waxwings.
