My wife and I finally got a chance to head up to Montreal and look for the owls. We did see two, but not without work. A local couple who live in a house bordering the park said they walk the trails and see at least one or two every day - except yesterday. We found the first after almost 1 1/2 hours of walking the trails. The second was right nearby. Both were sitting low (eyelevel) and in relatively thick brush. One flew about 10 ft in response to a noisy snowmobile, but otherwise they just sat. Perhaps their behavior was influenced by the recent snowfall and semi-brisk winds in the more open areas.
Lots of horned larks around Bridport and Addison on the drive up. Many more than I have seen so far this winter. A few small flocks of Snow Buntings near Alburg.
