Today (3-23), at 07:30 in Brattleboro. I observed a male and female MOURNING DOVE re-building a nest from last year. The male would fly into an arborvitae with small sticks in his beak to the waiting female. Each time he came( 7 times in 5 minutes)he would land on her back, pass the stick to her, then fly off . Then she would tuck the stick under her body. The male was not shy or wasting any time, doing a bee line repeatedly from the edge of a parking lot gathering sticks, to the nest about 50 feet away.
