Krista: We bill Medicaid for everything possible, including "supportive
counseling" for
Applications, visits to DET, and employer interviews whenever possible.
I only ask that
notes be made "non-billable" when there are follow-up calls that are
ONLY vocational in
nature or educational contacts that are ONLY about course opportunities
and such. Of course, none of these charts have gone through a State
Medicaid audit yet! Who knows today
What will be acceptable tomorrow? Carolyn

Subject: JOBS retreat follow-up

Hi Everyone,

Scott and I were talking on our way home on Friday about some of the
discussions we had around medicaid billing, vocational services etc.
One thing that we talked about is that when we work with a client, we
often work hard to find ways to make vocational services fit into our
regular goals (i.e. - if we have a client who is agorphobic, and we take
them to look for jobs or an interview, we will bill for that time
stating that we were providing support to them in the community and
working on coping skills.) As a result of billing this way, sometimes
our vocational services are not being accurately reflected in our
numbers, because we billed Medicaid. Do other programs do this as well?
If so then the database information is not really reflective of the work
we do and therefore we may in fact be providing 50% employment services,
but our numbers don't show that.
