Hi, just wanted to pass on something to tech-integration folks. I think Ed Barry mentioned this application at the last VITA-Learn NW meeting (Windows - Photo Story 3). I have been working with a couple classes using this and thought I would put it out here for others to check out. Students really seem to enjoy it and it is very easy to use... even had the teachers I used it with mention the first day that it would be great for putting together their own classroom presentations! It works well as a presentation format to evidence learning from Web Quests, etc... many ways it might be meaningful of course. Below I have included a couple links to help get anyone interested rolling:
Photo Story 3 (ideas, resources, tutorials, help) - this page has a link to download
... it is a free application (read at the very bottom of the page)
You need to have ActiveX 9 and Windows Media Player 10. The Photo Story 3 download page has links to get these if you don't. Photo Story 3 also integrates use with Movie Maker 2.
Educational Uses of Digital Storytelling - might help get the idea machine flowing :-)
The above site comes from a larger site that has a bunch of good digital photo and digital storytelling resources in the form of a university course site. Many seem like within the capacity of younger students and certainly the resources lend themselves to adapted integration.
Have Fun! It has been interesting to read the profiles submitted to me by people that are joining up for the tech-integration community. I already see many common efforts that people are making or hoping to make. I hope that we can work together to share and enrich our efforts! It would be fun to share our collective experience, resource, and capacity with an application like the one above, or what Mac folks are doing with iPhoto-iMovie, etc. Maybe someone will do model activities at the Performance Task workshops this summer with this application. So many opportunities!
