Lake Bomoseen, Hubbardton, an IBA and Class I wetland.
This morning with bitterly north winds blowing down the lake there was,
nevertheless, a goodly number and variety of waterfowl.
Great blue heron (2), Canada goose (39), mallard (8), American black duck
(19), wood duck (24), ring-necked duck (92), common goldeneye (6), common
merganser (2) and ring-billed gull (2).
Hundreds (and hundreds) of tree swallows foraging above the 'warm' water for
anything that may be hatching in contrast to the bitterly cold wind.
