Was at the viewing area at DCWMA off and on in late afternoon, then from
6:30 till 7:45 last evening. Had a N. Harrier in the field on the goose
viewing side that perked me up for a brief moment before I took a good
look at the bird and realized what it was (raining hard, foggy and
breezy and with waning light--pretty hard conditions). Looked for well
over an hour at both fields on either side of Rte. 17--no owls. Others
were there, too, and seemed to not be finding them, but not sure--we
were all huddled in our cars. One car reported they had been seen on
both sides the night before. They (owls) probably had more sense then
we to stay out of that horrible weather.
