On my way to Killington this afternoon, I drove by the heron rookery on route 7 between Arlington and Manchester. The nests are huge again after the winter's toll. there were ~ 11 nests and two GB herons on each one. Quite a sight!
One Fox Sparrow at the feeders.
We have the regular pair of Canada Geese on our small pond - they came in the minute the ice went out. They were splashing around after mating and then did something I had never observed before. They both did this: they tipped over backward head first until only their bellies and feet were up in the air. It lasted only a couple of seconds before bobbing right side up again. ????????
