At Berlin Pond Sunday morning:
1 Pied Bill Grebe
8-10 hooded mergansers
12 or more Canada geese
1 Great Blue Heron
6-8 ring-necked duck (probably the resident flock)
3 song sparrows
(did not see or hear any swamp sparrows yet.)
Hundreds, maybe thousands of red-winged blackbirds.
2 pairs of tree swallows!
Most of this was at north end of pond. South end was very quiet
(redwings excepted.). Tree swallows were seen on Paine Tpke near the pond.
Pied-bill grebe was a male, swimming in and out amongst
mallards and ring-necks at north end of pond.
