Saw my first Rose-breasted Grosbeak of the year this morning, happily eating sunflower seeds at one of my feeders here in Mount Tabor. Also had a half dozen Evening Grosbeaks yesterday. I thought I saw a female Rose-beak ( as I call them) yesterday, but didn't really get a good enough look to confirm. Also am hearing a White-throated sparrow.
I took my dogs for a walk around 7:00 last night and we flushed two large hawks who proceeded to both land in trees about 50 feet away from us! What a sight! We came out from a wooded area into a field, where they may have been looking for their supper. I'm sure they were Red-tails, and thinking that they might be mates?
I expect to see Orioles and Hummingbirds any day now. Yippie!!
