Hi all. I released Dewie the Canada Goose at Dead Creek Wildlife Refuge
off Rte 17 this week (a patient since January). He was so happy to see
other geese that he ventured into a pair's territory and got chased off
into the cattails. I hope he will be ok. If any of you go there, would
you please look for a goose who can't fly but just skims the water. He
will regrow his right wing flight feathers when he molts. He seemed so
happy to be swimming and honking with others of his kind. Got in 2 DOA
Bohemian Waxwings that had hit a window and one Yellow Bellied Sapsucker
that died from cat inflicted wounds. On Sunday 4/10 in the Burlington
Free Press, Vermont Section there will be an article on NorthStream
Wildlife Services. Please let me know if you see Dewie the goose.
Thanks. PS. Baby bird season seems to have started with some species.
