06/02/05. Five hours of monitoring produced 48 bird species and 7 butterfly
species. Of the birds recorded there were 12 PO, 5 PR and 6 CO. Memorable
bird sighting was a broad-winged hawk circling and calling above the forest
canopy.
The 7 butterfly species included Canadian tiger swallowtail (14),
photographed; mustard white (1), West Virginia white (1), photographed; cabbage white
(1), photographed; clouded sulphur (2); northern cloudywing (1),  photographed;
duskywing species, photographed in a container jar, needs a more expert eye
to confirm species.
Cheers,
Roy Pilcher
Proctor, Vermont.
