Both today's Rutland County Audubon canoe trip
and Plan B, the search for the tri-colored heron,
were wash-outs. However, the birding was
interesting at Dead Creek nonetheless.

3 black-crowned night herons, a green heron,
numerous great blue herons were seen along with
an immature (twoish-year) bald eagle at Dead
Creek plus a flyover by a Cooper's hawk.

From the goose-viewing area, at least 2 savannah
sparrows were seen/heard as well as a horned
lark. We also watched an osprey bring a stick to
the platform where another osprey was waiting.
The two then proceeded to re-arrange the one and
only stick several times. Two empty-nesters or
two teenagers playing house?
