The one interesting aspect of atlassing has been to expect the unexpected.While out in a block in Orwell we found a nesting kestrel not in the typical cavity nest but happily brooding eggs on the top of a broken branch stub. Research in the Arthur Bent series does indicate this type of nest as well as other unusual sites.
The other treat was watching recently fledged winter wrens being fed.
