Very busy at the feeders here near Fern Lake: second
brood of Chipping Sparrows, my goodness they make a
lot of noise for such a little bird! pinhead Blue
Jays in abundance; daily visits from RB Grosbeak
juveniles; a family of Orioles enjoying the
blueberries; young Hairy & Downy Woodpeckers; a
Pileated shouting around the house; four Mourning
Doves spend the whole day just sitting around; and
LOTS of hummers, male, female & juveniles - two will
sit on the six port feeder so long as they can't
actually SEE each other. I hung a new grey stripe
feeder in the big lilac and literally within a minute
of my leaving it a Common Nuthatch was investigating.
Only the little birds can land on it - so far -
including Nuthatches, BC Chickadees, Goldfinches and
one male Purple Finch, but I will have to find
somewhere else for winter or the squirrels will
