I spent a few days on two blocks in the Alburg area this week with
Brendan Collins, Sarah Frey and Juan Klavins. We found about 27
species or so on two blocks that had hardly anything done on them.
In no particular order from our sheets....
Appalachian Brown - life butterfly for me!!!! In a nasty swamp.
Monarch - many. some mating and one ovipositing.
Great Spangled Fritillary
Common Wood Nymph (clouded form and intermediate form)
Milbert's Tortoiseshell - many many larvae on stinging nettles
deer fly heaven!
