Hello,
As a reminder we are seeking nominations for the Sustainable Agriculture 
Farm of the Year by October 1. Details are below.
The nomination only needs to be up to 500 words and can be submitted by 
email so we're hoping you may have a few moments to nominate a farm you 
may have in mind. Thanks! Deb



*Nominations Sought for Sustainable Agriculture Farm of the Year *

Burlington--Each year, one Vermont farm is selected as the Sustainable 
Agriculture Farm of the Year. The award, sponsored by the Vermont 
Sustainable Agriculture Council, recognizes farms dedicated to 
maintaining the long-term sustainability of farming in the state. Any 
Vermont farm is eligible to be nominated -- the deadline to submit a 
nomination is October 1, 2005.

Criteria for award selection is based on how well the farm has 
demonstrated the following:
1) A significant commitment to environmental stewardship.
2) Innovative farming and/or marketing practices.
3) Economic viability of the farm business.
4) A commitment to education and community.

The selection committee is comprised of representatives from the Vermont 
Sustainable Agriculture Council, a legislated body that advises the 
University of Vermont Center for Sustainable Agriculture and the Vermont 
Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets on sustainable agriculture 
issues. The recipient receives a $200 check and a handsome sign suitable 
for posting at the farm. The award will be announced in press releases 
and in the Vermont Agency of Agriculture’s Agriview newsletter. The farm 
will also be recognized at a public event (to be arranged by the UVM 
Center for Sustainable Agriculture and the Vermont Agency of 
Agriculture, in collaboration with the recipient farm.)

Past recipients of the award include: Shelburne Orchards, Harlow Farm, 
Intervale Community Farm, Butterworks Farm, Lilac Ridge Farm, Adams 
Farm, and Golden Russet Farm.

Please submit nominations electronically to

Sustainable Agriculture Farm of the Year, c/o UVM Center for Sustainable 
Agriculture, 63 Carrigan Drive, Burlington VT 05405-0004. Nominations 
should address the four selection criteria listed and be no longer than 
500 words. Self-nominations are acceptable.
