Brad Allen and Laura Kissock Named Vermont Student-Athletes of the Week
BURLINGTON, Vt. - Brad Allen (Morrisville, Vt.) from the cross country team and
Laura Kissock (Albuquerque, N.M.) from the women?s soccer team are the
Vermont Student-Athletes of the Week.
Kissock, a transfer from UNLV, has started the last three games in net for the
Catamounts. She helped preserve a 2-0 shutout victory over defending America
East Champion Binghamton on Sunday afternoon, making a career-high 11 stops. It
marked the second straight game where Kissock has posted a career-high for
saves. She made nine stops in Vermont's 2-1 victory at UMass on Sept. 18.
Kissock has started the last four games in goal for Vermont and the Catamounts
are 3-1. She ranks second in America East in saves per game (6.17) and 10th in
goals against average (2.37). The Catamounts, winners of three of the last four
games, own a record of 4-5-0 overall and stand at 1-0-0 in America East. UVM
returns to Centennial Field for the first time since August 31 when they host
Albany at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29
Allen was the Catamounts top runner for the for the ninth time out of 10 races,
dating back to last season, and for the third consecutive race in 2005. He led
the men's cross country team to a second place finish at the St. Lawrence
Invitational, finishing fourth overall with a time of 26:42. The Catamounts
have this week off and will be back in action on Oct. 8 when they compete in
the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
