A perfect morning at Lefferts Pond today with 24
species. 31 wood ducks were on the pond and 2
Canada geese were flying high overhead.
Warblers included 1 northern parula, 1 magnolia,
9 black-throated blue, 1 yellow-rumped and 2
black-throated green.
An accipiter-type bird (goshawk?) took a pass at
2 of the 3 great blue herons seen and turned on a
belted kingfisher fishing nearby. Kind of nervy.
Also observed were 2 pileated woodpeckers
(tempting to report ivory-billed after last
night's excellent presentation by Tim Gallagher
for the Audubon Vermont annual meeting).
