VTLepsters:

I tagged 23 Monarchs in an hour in a flowering red clover field in
Shelburne today (and another two from reared individuals at home here in
Plainfield).

The south winds tends to put Monarchs down into nectar sources. The winds
swung around hard to the north at 3:20 pm with the arrival of low pressure.
It was dramatic on Lake Champlain -- sudden whitecaps and 25 mile-per-hour
winds. (No odd birds came with it, but Ted Murin and I did see a Jaeger
species on the lake before the front arrived.)

The only other butterflies in the clover field were Black Swallowtail (1),
Cabbage White, Clouded Sulphur, and Orange Sulphur.
