True, it is about 7 miles from the summit of Jay to Montgomery Center via
that route. But people live 3.5 miles from MC up that road, as high as
around 1300 feet. People on this list other than me have been up there and
that's where the rescue people drive to - 3.5 miles from the summit and less
to various places on actual slopes. Matt did not say "Civilization" or
"plowed." Re this particular spot, my feeling was/is that once you reach
plowing, even though it is an additional 3.5 miles to town, you are no
longer lost. Or did I misread Matt's post? Did he say 2 or 3 miles to
town?
Oh, good points Jim. thanks.

Neither "road" is much more than a skidder path, and neither is plowed
far beyond Montgomery Center. Sure, someone finding it would likely
realize that it'll eventually lead to *something*, but it's much farther
to civilization than your comments would lead someone to believe.
