First I want to say thanks to all of you who showed up to our first Aikido Club
practice of the semester. It was a decent turn out and I'm glad to see a few
new faces. Kudos especially to those who walked down the hill with Julia and I
- you got a workout before stepping foot on the mat! I'm planning on having a
car this coming Thursday, so hopefully we can carpool this time.
Also, I want to give a few words of encouragement to those who had never
practiced before. We arrived a little late for class and so I didn't have time
to go over all the details of bowing and such. I know it was a lot to be
exposed to all at once and you did fine. We've all been there and I know it
seems really overwhelming at first. Don't worry though, the more you practice,
the more comfortable you'll be. The hardest part is just starting out.
There were three people who had told me they'd be there on Thursday and (as far
as I know) never showed up. I did hear from one of you, so you're off the hook.
The rest of you: I'm a senior physics major so I completely understand that
conflicts come up and that's fine, just pleeease email me before hand and let
me know if you can't make it. Especially when we're carpooling, we need to know
if we should wait on someone who just happens to be running a bit late, or if
we should leave without them. If we don't hear from you we'll probably wait and
be late even if you don't show. So, please write.
