In response to emails under separate cover, it turns out that Bel-Art has
discontinued their vials: this means no more sheets of septum materials.
The request has been for a North American supplier to save on overseas
A Google search turned up www.cepure.com who sell septa in various
materials including butyl rubber, located in NY State. If anybody goes to
the extent of pursuing and getting an order of septa, PLEASE post it here
so that we can give such a manufacturer our support.
Please bear in mind that we are looking for an odd-sized septum: 13.5mm or
14mm (depending on your brand of vial). This may translate to 9/16" or so
for the metrically deprived. One can count on having to order many
thousands of these to be able to get a custom order.
It's possible that the butyl stoppers sold for serum vials may serve, even
if there is a bit that protrudes into the vial (sorry that I don't have any
stoppers to hand, to measure instead of speculating). Those stoppers are
self-sealing, but may be harder on the needles than the flat septa.
