the most out of what remains tomorrow.

Sounds like the upper auto road should have the potential for turns -
anything else still will not have enough cover despite the two feet on
snow
& ice on the summit this morning and the two-foot expected storm total.
(Or if somehow enough snow has blow into such terrain, avy danger would
be
too much of a concern.)
Mr. Otto D. Rhoade says his lower extremities are snow covered about 1/4
of
a mile up - if so, would start at Great Glen. But AMC says snowline is
at
Raymond Path - if so, then would start at PNVC and head up Old Jackson
Road
to intersect w/ Otto.
Will probably go ultrafast & light on the ski gear w/ the Dynafit MLT4
boots and TM:11 skis, although might instead use the Matrices & wife's
rock
skis. (There's just something really special about starting off the
season
in October, in New England, on natural snow . . . with someone else's
rock
skis.)
Other than ski gear, will bring full-on winter mountaineering and
survival
kit (even avy rescue gear just in case I really mess up) - wx fx for
Tuesday looks much better than for today, but still is pretty wild up
there.
Ping me bc by 4pm today if interested, or try the cell phone I grabbed
from
work: 617-943-6150 (Yes, I will be checking office voice mail at all
times.) Unsure if driving up tonight or tomorrow morning - either way,
start time will not be super early, since my ski patrol class (south of
the
city, drat) goes until past 9 tonight. (Thought about skipping it but
then
realized just how bad it would be to get any injury tomorrow that we're
covering tonight...)
