    RECREATIONAL FORECAST

   National Weather Service Burlington VT
   349 AM EDT Wed Oct 19 2005

   The Lake Champlain open waters forecast 

   Today: Northwest winds 5 to 15 knots, becoming southwest in the
   afternoon. Waves 1 to 2 feet. Showers likely, especially in the
   afternoon. Visibility reduced to around 3 miles in any rain. 
   Tonight: Winds becoming northwest at 10 to 20 knots. Waves 1 to 2
   feet. A chance of showers. Visibility around 5 miles in any rain. 
   Thursday: Northwest winds 5 to 15 knots. Waves 1 to 2 feet.

   The Lake Champlain Lake level at the King Street ferry dock was 96.72
   feet, and the water temperature was 55 degrees.

   The ultraviolet index for today is a 1. This is in the low category.

   The higher summits forecast for Vermont and Northern New York:

   Today: Cloudy. Rain showers likely. Highs 35 to 45. West Winds 25 to
   40 mph. 
   Thursday: Mostly cloudy. Highs in the 20S. Northwest winds 20 to 30
   mph.
