Vermont Nordic Team Competes in TD Banknorth Eastern Cup, Ski Team Also
Participates in Local Ski Clinic Set to Appear on WCAX "Spotlight on Sports"

BURLINGTON, Vt. - The University of Vermont Nordic ski team competed in the TD
Banknorth Eastern Cup at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vt., this past
weekend. The TD Banknorth Eastern Cup is the premier race series in the eastern
United States.
On Saturday, freshman Marion Solbjorg (Lillehammer, Norway) won the sprint
competition on day one of the TD Banknorth Eastern Cup while senior Molly Gray
(Newbury, Vt.) finished fourth. In the men's sprint competition on Saturday
freshman Juergen Uhl (Muhlenbach, Germany) took home top honors and senior Ryan
Foster (Weston, Vt.) finished third.
During Sunday's Senior Women 10K Freestyle Mass Start five different Catamounts
finished in the top 10: senior Emilia DeMarchis (Burlington Vt.) finished
third, junior Katrina Hamel (Southampton, Mass.) was fifth, senior Kate
Crawford (Hawley, Mass.) was seventh, senior Anja Jokela (Shelburne, Vt.) was
eighth and Solbjorg finished ninth.
The Senior Men 10K Freestyle Mass Start was also held on Sunday. Three different
Catamounts finished in the top 10: senior Anders Osthus (Duluth, Minn.)
finished fourth, Foster was fifth and Uhl finished seventh.
The Vermont ski team also participated in a ski clinic last Wednesday at the
Hamill Farm in Underhill, Vt., for the Mt. Mansfield Ski Club. The clinic will
be featured tomorrow (Dec. 20) at 6:40pm during WCAX, Channel 3's "Spotlight on
Sports".
