Just another FYI on the birdscaping track...
A great (inexpensive) source for some of these native bird-friendly trees
and shrubs is the bareroot plant sale that many of the state's conservation
districts hold each spring. For example, the Winooski Conservation District
holds 2 sales (one in Berlin and one in Williston) sometime in late April/
early May. Email Abbey Willard ([log in to unmask]) or Tiffany
Shaw ([log in to unmask]) to get your name and address on their
order-form mailing list. Their stock is not large (usually 3' to 5' in
height) but it is very inexpensive ($3 - $10 per tree/shrub) so you can get
a wide variety and cover a lot of ground...
